Portrait: Wendy A MorelandI see in colors, shapes, rhythms, lines. There is beauty all around us if you open your eyes to see it. When I see something beautiful, no matter where I am, but especially in nature, I love to capture that moment in time and reflect on that feeling of found beauty over and over again. The moments of beauty we see are fleeting, but as a photographer you can capture that beauty and give it permanence and share it with others.

“Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again." – Henri Cartier-Bresson

The light will never strike the scene that way again, the little girl’s pink jacket will never reflect in the water quite that way again, the shadows will not ever fall that way again, the green of the grass will never be that green again. Moments are captured, fleeting beauty is made firm. There is beauty all around us that we may never “see”, a photograph allows us to see that beauty and feel that awe over and over again.

Every time I capture a moment of beauty, I think of my favorite poet:
“I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.” - e.e. cummings

Thank you for letting me share these moments with you. I say “yes”.
